Al Pacino began performing at the age of 14 while still in school. He soon transferred to the High School of the Performing Arts in New York but he eventually dropped out. After training under acting coach Charlie Laughton, Al Pacino earned a spot in the Actors Studio in 1966. Pacino went on to win various awards for his performances including the Off-Broadway Obie for Best Actor for the 1967-1968 season and a Tony Award for his Broadway debut Does the Tiger Wear a Necktie?

In the 1970's Al Pacino began to establish himself as one of the greatest actors in film history. His film career began with Me, Natalie in 1969. Godfather earned Pacino his first Academy Award nomination. Al Pacino went on to star in many more memorable films throughout the decade including Serpico (1973), Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and the film And Justice for All (1979).
